FAQs
What is blood pressure?
Blood pressure is the force of blood pushing against your artery walls as your heart pumps. It’s recorded as two numbers: systolic (pressure when the heart beats) over diastolic (pressure when the heart rests between beats).
Why is it so important?
High blood pressure often has no symptoms but significantly increases your risk of heart disease, stroke, and kidney problems. Early detection through regular checks allows timely action to protect your long-term health.
How do I get my blood pressure checked?
You can have your blood pressure checked at any of our sites—no appointment needed. We have blood pressure machines at each site , that are easy to use. Our reception team is also on hand should you need any help.
Regular Monitoring:
If your reading is raised, we may ask you to return for a repeat check. This confirms accuracy and helps us decide on the best next steps for you.
Want to speak to someone about BP? Book a routine appointment with your GP or practice pharmacist (for those with diagnosed hypertension) to discuss your blood pressure, lifestyle changes, or medication options.

🏠 Home Monitoring
We may ask you to monitor your blood pressure at home. Don’t have a BP machine? You can purchase a blood pressure machine online or at your local pharmacy. Monitors with an arm cuff are more accurate than wrist or finger monitors. You also need to ensure that the cuff is the correct size for your arm.
Home Blood pressure monitoring is more accurate due to in clinic readings are normally higher than normal. We ask for home monitoring to get a true gauge of your readings.
Please see this leaflet for how to measure your BP at home .
How to naturally reduce your blood pressure:
Making simple lifestyle changes can help lower blood pressure naturally. Eat a balanced diet with plenty of fruit and vegetables, reduce salt, exercise regularly, maintain a healthy weight, limit alcohol, avoid smoking, and manage stress.
