Registering as new patient

Welcome to Greensand Health Centre. We provide GP services for patients living in and around Linton, Loose and Headcorn. If you’ve recently moved to the area, or you’re looking for a new GP surgery, we can support you to register.

Check you live in our catchment area:

You must live within our practice catchment area to register with us. This helps us make sure we can provide safe and timely care for our patients. Please use the map below to check whether your address is included. If you’re not sure, our reception team can check your postcode for you.

Ways to Register with the Practice:

Register online (recommended)

The easiest and quickest way to register is online using the NHS App or the NHS website.

The registration form usually takes around 15 minutes to complete and should be finished in one go. When you apply, your request is sent to us securely. The NHS service will also check that your address is within our catchment area.

Can't register online?

We understand that not everyone can access the internet or feels confident using online forms. If this applies to you, please contact our reception team. We can provide a paper registration form and help explain what you need to do.

  • If you have them, documents such as proof of address or photo ID can help us process your registration.

  • We will not refuse to register you just because you cannot provide these documents.

FAQs:
What if I take Regular Medication?

When you register with a new GP surgery, it can take a little time for your medical records to arrive from your previous practice. If you take regular medication, please make sure you have at least 4 weeks’ supply when you register, to avoid any gaps. In some situations, we may be able to use a recent repeat prescription slip to help reduce delays. If you’re running low, please contact the surgery as soon as possible so we can advise you on the safest next step.

Can I register my child?

Yes. A parent or legal guardian can register a child under the age of 16. If you know your child’s NHS number, it can be helpful, but it is not essential.

Can I choose which GP I see?

You can let us know if you have a preference for a particular GP. We will always try to take this into account, but it may not always be possible.

What happens if I move outside the catchment area?

Our practice can only care for patients who live within our catchment area. If you move outside this area, you will usually need to register with a GP surgery closer to your new home.

Do I need photo ID or proof of address?

The NHS may use GP data to help plan and improve health services. This is done securely and follows strict rules. You can choose whether or not your data is shared.
